Adelaide is relatively well-known for its creative and tech sectors. There's many agencies operating in areas like the East End, Hindmarsh Square, and the improving precincts of Lot Fourteen and Thebarton. These areas attract designers, developers, nerds, and creatives. The office culture here leans towards what I would call a 'flexible corporate' style, with a lot of co-working spaces.
There's some rather large players such as BAE Systems (and the many businesses that form around them), so agencies have some decent opportunities to work with high-profile clients, and the city’s universities (Adelaide University has a great rep.), help supply a ever-flowing workforce. Conferences like SouthStart are great for networking and building a client base - useful for people new to the industry, or established agencies looking to get more clients. With a lower cost of living than Sydney (or Melbourne), plus the recent trend of more and more tech startups, it’s a pretty good place to be right now.
